Control Room
A Tom Hidley-designed 20Hz control room featuring an 80 input SSL 9000J. Studio A's Kinoshita / TAD mains, driven by 3400W custom-made Charles Diana power amps, have been described by some as the best-sounding mains in Nashville. A healthy selection of Neve and API mic pres along with a fully equipped Pro Tools HD4 system round out this studio's outstanding selection of modern and vintage gear.
Tracking Space (35' x 24' x 18')
Our tracking room is a versatile space capable of a variety of recording scenarios from large tracking dates to intimate overdub sessions. Adequate isolation space is offered by the vocal booth and amp locker right off the main floor as well as the adjoining piano and stone rooms. Clear line of sight exists between all spaces from the control room all the way to the stoneroom.
Vocal Booth & Amp Locker
Off the main tracking floor are two separate isolation spaces. The vocal booth has line of sight with the tracking room floor and all the way back to the stone room. The amp locker is perfect for any amplified instrument and provides the all-important separation of sound while allowing the player to remain on the floor and in contact with the other musicians. Electric guitar or pedal steel is a common choice for this room.
Piano Room (14' x 12')
As suggested by the name, piano tracking and overdubs are the most common scenarios in this room. It also doubles as a B3 tracking space and can accommodate simultaneous piano and B3 setups. Perhaps the most distinguishing factor of this room is the beautiful 9-foot Bosendorfer Grand Piano. A favorite among engineers and players alike, this piano has earned quite a reputation around Nashville and serves as a major draw for the studio.
Stone Room (18' x 12' x 14.5')
Reflective surfaces abound in the stone room. Serving as a point of contrast to the other recording spaces in the studio, the stone room has welcomed a variety of sound sources. Among them are drums, lead vocal, acoustic guitar, mandolin and bass amp. Tie lines allow a player to sit in the tracking space and isolate an amp in the stone room. Logistical purposes notwithstanding, the sonic environment is perfect when a more "live" sound is desired.
Lounge Areas
Hospitality is taken seriously at HOB Nashville and the studio's lounge areas reflect this. The A lounge is equipped with all the necessary amenities including comfortable seating, satellite TV, T1 internet access, a full kitchen & pool table. If the outdoors and fresh air are desired, there is a patio off the main hallway with shaded tables and chairs. And of course, snacks and drinks are always available in the studio fridges and kitchen areas.

Control Room
Studio B is a consummate mix and overdub room. At its heart is an SSL 4000E console (with G computer) and an API 1604 sidecar providing a total of 56 fully-automated channels of world-class analog summing. An extensive array of vintage and modern outboard gear provide a variety of sonic options to choose from. But perhaps the most compelling feature of Studio B, surpassing even its gear selection, is the laid-back, comfortable vibe. Think of it as your audio home away from home.
Iso Space
Two isolation spaces exist right off the Studio B control room allowing a variety of overdub scenarios. Both rooms are tied into a cue system and cable pass-throughs enable one room to serve as a mini control room for the other, allowing overdubs to take place independent of the main control room. As comfortable as they are versatile, these spaces offer relaxing decor and lighting to create the perfect vibe.
B-Lounge & Foyer
Upstairs from the main floor is the B lounge area and patio. This space is equipped with comfortable seating, a kitchen, satellite TV and wireless high-speed T1 internet access. For taking in some fresh air, there is a second story porch right off the kitchen. While not exactly a lounge area, the front foyer of the studio often plays host to many a relaxed discussion. Being in close proximity to the control room, it is not uncommon to find staff and clients mingling here while on break.
